HURLING
The first GAA club in Sacramento, the Kavs were founded in the summer of 2025 by a mix of Irish and American players. The club experienced explosive growth, fielding a team and participating in their first hurling challenge within months of forming. We will be competing against other SFGAA clubs beginning in 2026 and looking to represent California's capital city at Treasure Island for years to come.
The namesake of the club, Monsignor Edward J Kavanagh (1925-2018), was a stalwart of Sacramento who served the community for over 60 years. In 1947, he won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship with Kilkenny before moving to Sacramento. We hope to carry his legacy and dedication to service both on and off the pitch.
