A New Park, A New Reason to Visit Treasure Island

Treasure Island, home to over 2,000 residents, a growing list of restaurants, schools, athletic organizations, and, of course, the San Francisco GAA’s home pitch, Páirc na nGael, now has brand-new green space to enjoy: Cityside Park.

Accessible by an eight-minute ferry from downtown San Francisco, Cityside Park offers sweeping skyline views, a great lawn, barbecue eateries, and a pedestrian plaza. Families and friends can enjoy large picnic tables, BBQ grills, and miles of walking and biking trails along the waterfront. The six-acre park also highlights a sustainable design, with stormwater gardens that collect and biofilter rainwater before it flows back to the bay.

Plans are already underway to expand the park by another 16+ acres and add 8,000 new housing units in the coming years. Once an abandoned naval base, Treasure Island is rapidly transforming into a world-class destination with vibrant neighborhoods, environmentally progressive design, and public spaces built for community.

This new addition is part of a historic project that will ultimately add more parkland to San Francisco than any project since Golden Gate Park. Designed with accessibility, sustainability, and recreation in mind, Treasure Island’s public spaces are being shaped into a regional destination in the middle of the Bay.

For the San Francisco GAA community, this means even more reasons to come out to Treasure Island. Whether you’re heading over to watch a match at Páirc na nGael or bringing family and friends for a weekend picnic, Cityside Park is now part of the experience.
