New Murals Bring Color and Pride to Páirc na nGael
Murals That Celebrate Our Home for Gaelic Games in San Francisco
If you've been to Páirc na nGael this season, you’ve noticed something new: bold, hand-painted murals now greet players and fans at the pitch. The new murals are more than decoration; they are a celebration of place, a nod to our shared pride, and a reminder that San Francisco GAA is special.

As we prepared for opening day this spring, we could see that Páirc na nGael was showing its age. We wanted to do more to reinvigorate the space and create a stronger sense of identity.
San Francisco GAA Public Relations Officer, William Wayland, brought in his longtime friend and designer to create a set of mural concepts that would capture the spirit of Gaelic sport in San Francisco and highlight Páirc na nGael as the proud home of our community.

“Since 2008, Páirc na nGael has been the heart of our games in San Francisco,” said Seamus Collins, San Francisco GAA Chairperson. “We wanted it to feel like a proper home. The murals, along with the other improvements, show our commitment to making this place welcoming, exciting, and worthy of the athletes and fans who come here every weekend.”
To bring the murals to life, San Francisco GAA partnered with New Bohemia Signs, a San Francisco institution and the city’s longest-running hand-painted sign shop. New Bohemia is known for its dedication to traditional sign-writing techniques and its distinctive work, which can be seen throughout San Francisco on storefronts, windows, walls, and architectural details. Their team painted each mural at Páirc na nGael by hand.

“We were honored to be part of this project,” said Damon Styer, owner of New Bohemia Signs. “I hope the warmth and character that hand lettering brings, as compared to vinyl stickers or digital printing, is apparent. It was a pleasure working with an organization that values craft and community as much as we do. And we’re looking forward to seeing Gaelic games at the Páirc!”
These murals are part of a broader vision to ensure that Páirc na nGael will continue to thrive as a hub for Gaelic games in the Bay Area. Whether you're here to play, cheer, or enjoy a cold drink from The Wild Goose, we hope the new look reminds you that this is our field, our home, and our community.
